Late october update: not even the satirical Oxford paper, The Oxymoron, wanted anything to do with me :/ a first attempt at poetry obvioulsy got “nah’d” but I was pretty happy with what I wrote. I had never delved into poetry before and I found it soothing and calming.
I heard about this McSweeney’s thing a year ago, unsure of how my internet-addicted self had never come across it before. I’m definitely falling behind on my internet game but please check them out if you haven’t, never fails to make me laugh and hide the fact that I have yet to start on my dissertation.
(On that note, I also just started using Reddit and my god can it be a beautiful {and occasionally terrible} place.)
One can dream, though, and I can only think of this McSweeney person glancing at my pitiful attempts at comedy before saying “nah” and rewording the same email yet again.
Honestly, gotta admire the creativity that comes from phrasing "no” a million ways.
Like Jesus said, “it’s not about the journey, but the destination :) “
*I’ll likely be updating the email list as the rejections pile up to start my “how to say no in a professional setting” portfolio for when I eventually teach communications or PR in order to pay off this thick student loan.
